Description
The children’s hospital was built during the Russian Empire with funds from the philanthropist Nikola Tereshchenko. A missile’s impact on the hospital building was one of the most famous and egregious attacks against civilian infrastructure during the Russian-Ukrainian war. As of 2026, the damaged building is preserved but non-functional. Emergency work was carried out at the site, strengthening the retaining walls and protecting the structures from the destructive effects of the weather. Since the building has the status of an architectural monument, a comprehensive restoration is planned.
