Church of Ihor of Chernihiv

Description: The church was an elegant five-domed structure built of white stone in the traditional Russo-Byzantine style. The central drum and four side towers were crowned with large gilded onion domes, making them a prominent feature of the station square skyline. The interior was decorated with a modern carved iconostasis and traditional wall paintings. Shelling completely destroyed the roof and all five gilded domes, which collapsed into the interior of the church. Because the city remains an active combat zone, restoration of the building is not currently being considered.
