House of Science and Technology of the Lyman Locomotive Depot

Description: The Railway Workers’ Palace of Culture was one of the oldest, largest, and most significant cultural centres of the Donetsk Railway. The building was a classic example of early Constructivism. Its appearance was defined by asymmetrical geometric volumes, a flat roof, and extensive panoramic glazing that maximised natural light in the foyers and halls. In 2022, shells penetrated the roof and detonated inside the main auditorium. The building was completely gutted by fire: the roof collapsed into the interior, destroying the library, technical equipment, rehearsal spaces, and the unique depot archives. The Palace of Culture was officially declared completely destroyed and beyond repair.
